Prayer Requests

   These prayer requests were updated on Monday, July 19, 2010

• This summer has included lots of new family inquiries, tours, interviews and enrollments. Please remember to pray for our new students and their parents, from preschool to high school. Starting in a new school community can be an exciting adventure, but also a frightening experience. Pray for good friends, for a quick adjustment and for a positive experience. Pray that the new folks will soon become active members of our DCS community.
• Donna Mayberry, one of our Support Services teachers at Van Dellen, received a disappointing diagnosis of breast cancer this summer. Pray for Donna as she goes through surgery and treatments. Pray for healing. Pray that she will stay in good spirits and will soon be able to resume her duties as a teacher. Pray for her family, too, as there will be adjustments to make. Pray that they will all sense God's presence through a difficult time.  
• Pray for our teachers. We have some new ones coming on board. We also have some veterans who have been busy with professional development activity. Pray that all of them come in August refreshed and ready to engage students in meaningful ways.  
• We will soon be mailing out an invitation to families within a 10-mile radius of the high school asking them to consider Denver Christian High School for their teenage child. We are hoping to generate 30 new students from the 1500 homes we will reach. Pray that God will use this effort and other means to generate the enrollment we need. Pray particularly for growth at the high school.
• We have 5 new Board members and also new officers selected for the 2010-2011 school year. Pray for the new members - Gwen Boonstra, Langford Jordan, Dianne Kersting, Ray Boersema and Tim Van Stelle. Pray also for our new Board president, Craig Wildrick. Pray that God will provide each with the wisdom, insight and skill necessary to lead and govern Denver Christian Schools well.
• Pray that Denver Christian will be the school God wants us to be. Much effort has been spent on articulating our goal to equip, inspire and engage our students, so that they will in turn leave our schools equipped to follow God's call, inspired to excel and eager to engage their world and advance His kingdom. Pray that those words become more than just words. Pray that we take seriously our mission and are faithful and diligent until it is accomplished.
