High School Events & Dances

Homecoming

Homecoming is an annual tradition celebrated in the fall of each year. All of the fall high school sports have homecoming games, and alumni from featured past years are honored at these games. The Student Council organizes the homecoming week to be full of fun activities for the students, typically culminating in decorating contests, a pep assembly, and homecoming court elections on Friday. The homecoming court, representing each class, is honored at the football game on Saturday and in the evening at a dance. The student body really comes together during these fun activities.  Special events abound for families and alumni including chili cookoffs, tail-gating, and other fun get-togethers.

Sadie Hawkins

Sadie Hawkins week is sponsored by the High School Student Council each year around Valentines Day. This week is filled with fun activities like pajama day, "twin" day, dress up as your favorite teacher day, and hat day. A Sadie Hawkins dance is held that week, and the Sadie Hawkins tradition of girls asking boys for dates makes for fun social interaction.

Junior/Senior Prom

This traditional spring event is planned by the juniors to honor the seniors for their accomplishments and leadership. Prom also provides a fun opportunity for the junior class to develop leadership skills for their next year and often helps in unifying the junior class. Prom at DC also provides a uniquely Christian, formal evening for the junior and senior classes.
